Sustainable fashion for everyone – a Startup with Ecological Concern

Increased offline and online commerce activities has lead to a lifestyle wherein consumers are buying goods that they may not need or might use rarely. This is especially true about fashion and accessories.
The big retail outlets and online retailers are now offering huge discounts for clothing, apparel and accessories to make their sales and profits. This means they are giving away products at such a throw away prices which is possible only if they compromise on the product quality. Hence the customers are ending up buying clothes that will last only for few usage cycles. In some cases the customers end up buying clothes that they may not use at all.
This is a huge burden on the environment as large amounts of resources are going waste and we are depleting earth’s resources by consuming the resources of the future generations.
Considering the above market dynamics, I and a friend of mine are working on a new business idea to promote sustainable fashion. We will have a model, wherein customers can rent the clothes, apparels and accessories from us and return them to us after their usage. This would encourage reuse of the clothes, apparels and accessories.
In addition to reuse, we will also focus on recycling. We will also offer to buy back old clothes from customers and will recycle them for usage as filling in the blankets and furnitures, which will be also sold by us.
The vision of sustainable fashion is broad and there is a lot of room for exploring additional revenue opportunities. We are looking for one to two more business partners who can bring in some expertise from the the recycling industry for clothing. We already come with the expertise in the fashion (clothing and apparel) industry.
We are based out of Mumbai and prefer someone who is from Mumbai as well.
